Salary for the Emergency Medicine position is an hourly rate based on an average of 1900 hours per year at $300,000/year, plus $40,000-$50,000 for benefits. Hours worked above 1900/year are compensated at the hourly rate.
Northeast Tennessee pays $1,000 / per year towards CMEs, ASEP dues are paid, privilege tax is paid. Additional upfront payment of $40,000-$50,000 can be used to purchase all other physician benefits, including medical malpractice. After one year of employment, the physician is eligible for bonuses, which are often in the $10,000 range, and profit sharing benefits. The corporate year begins on October 1st and ends on September 30. The hospital will also reimburse moving expenses up to $15,000.
We provide Register or log in for contact information hours of physician coverage a day, and are expanding to 24 hours of physician extender coverage a day. As it is right now, there is triple physician coverage 12 hours a day, double coverage 8 hours a day, and single coverage 4 hours a day. Nine out of the eleven physicians are board eligible or board certified in Emergency Medicine; the other 2 are Family Practice boarded and work on the Fast Track Side. We currently have a 9 week schedule, with two work weeks of days, 1 week of nights, 1 week of 5pm - 3am, and the 5 days of Noon -11pm split up over 2 weeks. In this 9 week schedule, there are 3 full weeks off and 2 half weeks with the weekend off, for a total of 30 days off and 33 days worked. Please keep in mind the Fast-Track physicians have their own separate schedule. The areas diversity and range of options for leisure makes it an enjoyable place to live (not to mention the benefit of NO STATE INCOME TAX).
The hospital, a 540-bed facility, is the region's largest hospital offering a broad array of medical services and is staffed with over 280 board certified or board eligible physicians and more than 1800 employees
