Memorial Hospital in Carthage Illinois has an excellent opportunity for a General Surgeon. This opportunity is for a 2008 or 2009 candidate. The current general surgeon is nearing retirement. Carthage has doubled its market share in the last 2 years and general surgery has become a growing need. Carthage has also submitted a certificate of need to build a new hospital in 2009, which is expected to further grow the hospitals market share. The hospital currently has 1 OR and 1 endoscopy suite. Most surgeries are scheduled and call would be light.

The hospital is offering an excellent and flexible package to the right surgeon. Employment or set up in private practice are both options. For the employment opportunity a competitive base salary is being offered. The hospital offers it employed physician benefits that include paid malpractice, 4 weeks vacation, CME allotment plus 10 days, health insurance, retirement plan, relocation package, and student loan reimbursement.


Located in western Illinois, just a few miles east of the Mississippi, Carthage is the county seat of Hancock County.
