Skiing, antiques, Victorian homes, fine dining, spas, theater, musicals, championship golf, and picturesque views are just some of the things waiting for a General Surgeon interested in joining the new Midwest Medical Center in Galena Illinois. The brand new hospital is slated to open in December 2007 and is a must see!

The hospital is in need of a General Surgeon to service the community and hospital. There is huge potential for a general surgeon, with a service area of 23,000. The medical staff development plan shows a need for 2 general surgeons. There is a large primary care referral base within the community. The General Surgeon will have access to 2 brand new surgical suites and one endoscopy suite. All the OR equipment is state of the art and installed to accessible from above the operating table. The hospital currently staffs 1 anesthesiologist and 1 CRNA. Call coverage for the physician may be arranged with a surgeon from nearby Dubuque, Iowa. The physician will see patients in the multi-specialty clinic in the new hospital.

The opportunity is an employment arrangement with the hospital. The hospital must get the OR’s up and running! The hospital is willing to offer a very competitive salary to a General Surgeon willing to join them. The compensation also includes an incentive program based on work RVU’s. This compensation program allows the physician to see patients without the payer class affecting their income and bonus potential. The hospital will provide benefits such as malpractice coverage, tail coverage after service time, 3 weeks vacation, 6 holidays, 1 week CME, CME allotment, health, dental, life, disability insurance, and an excellent pension plan.

The community of Galena is in the northwest part of Illinois. Galena and the surrounding communities are situated in a beautiful resort area of rolling hills and magnificent scenery.
