Hospitalist needed for an Intensivist position in western Massachusetts. The Intensivist position is a hospitalbased hospitalemployed physician to oversee the Medical Center critical care areas. Experienced physician will be considered for leadership role graduating fellow will be considered for staff Intensivist role. They currently have one full time and one per diem Intensivist. They would like to have THREE full time Intensivist. MUST be board certified or board eligible in critical care and/or pulmonary medicine. Compensation for staff role is $200 000 per year modestly higher for leadership role. Full benefit package is available to employed physicians. The work schedule is not determined yet since they currently have one physician there five days a week and taking call for his 14 hours off campus. The weekend coverage is done by the per diem physician. The critical care unit typically has 10 beds in service at any given time although the licensed capacity is slightly higher. They staff the unit for 10 patients. The step down unit typically has 1718 patients. The units are contiguous to one another and were recently renovated. Nursing staff from the ICU/CCU combined unit are available to offer assistance to the nursing staff on the telemetry unit if a situation arises that requires consultation from a critical care RN. Hospitalists are in the hospital on a 24/7 basis and they work closely with the Intensivist.
