Hospitalist needed in western Massachusetts. Medical center currently has a full time Hospitalist service which operates on a 24/7 basis. There are currently eleven full time physicians and one part time physician working on the service. The Hospitalist service started in mid October 2003 and has been popular with the physicians utilizing the service. They are in the process of recruiting new physicians to keep up with the demand for the service by the primary care physicians who admit to the medical center. Physician must be board certified in adult internal medicine or family practice medicine. The Hospitalist service assists with admissions discharges and inpatient care for the patients assigned to the service. This is an employed position with benefits. Currently most of the physicians work four 10 hour shifts. The salary for Hospitalist is $145 000 per year a complete benefit package with health dental life disability and malpractice insurance and pension plan. Leave time benefits include 4 weeks of vacation and 10 holidays each year. CME time off with pay is one week per year plus a $1 000 allowance for CME expenses. The current service area has a population in excess of 150 000. It is a 200 bed facility and has a full range of services not typically seen in a community hospital. The new front lobby and patient registration areas were opened in November 2003 the new operating suites were opened in January 2004 and the remaining outpatient areas were completed in the summer of 2004.
