The population in Utah County is expected to grow by 80% between the years 1999 and 2015, and it is anticipated that by the year 2025 American Fork Hospital may serve as many as 200,000 people. Intermountain was named the nation's top system in 2005 according to a study of 582 systems by Modern Healthcare magazine and the Verispan research firm and is the only organization to have been ranked No. 1 five times and has been at or near the top of the list every year since the study began in 1994. American Fork is a beautiful community of 26,472 at the base of majestic Mt. Timpanogas. Recreational opportunities abound in the area, including swimming, golfing, water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, hiking, camping, tennis, etc. There are numerous cultural events throughout the year, both in American Fork and in the communities of Salt Lake City (35 miles away) and Provo (11 miles away). American Fork Hospital is a 117-bed Level V acute care, primary and secondary facility serving American Fork and other communities in Utah County, which has a population base of approximately 440,000. Twenty-five specialties are represented among the more than 200 physicians on staff. In 2002 the hospital completed a $32 million expansion, including a new MRI unit, an angiography suite, a level II neonatal intermediate care unit, an expanded ICU, a multi-specialty clinic, and expanded existing services: O.R., Postpartum, Labor& Delivery and others.
