Job Description

My client needs coverage until new Hospitalists are in place. Each Hospitalist is expected to examine, diagnose, and treat hospitalized patients; manage patients through the continuum of hospital care, seeing patients in the ER and following them into the critical care unit and organizing post-acute care. Order treatments, tests, and consult with specialty physicians and primary care physician where appropriate. The immediate need is to work 8-5 weekdays with some potential night call during the week. Weekends covered by local physicians.

About the Hospital: The hospital has long served the community as an independent, not-for-profit organization established to meet the primary health care needs of the public. In 1998, the Board of Directors chose to build a new five-story building connected to an existing wing. The flexibility to adapt to continuing changes in the healthcare field, such as telemedicine and medical information technology applications, have been designed into this new, state-of-the-art facility. Today the hospital is home to 34 Active Staff Physicians, 11 Courtesy Staff Physicians, 38 Consulting Staff Physicians, 10 Allied Health Professionals and 350 employees.

Located in the Shenandoah Valley in west central Virginia the city is home to many state and national historic landmarks and today serves as the retail, service, governmental, and educational center for the area. It has served as home to the renowned historic military strategists, inventors and pioneers.

The city's downtown is a thriving collection of shops and restaurants housed in restored buildings with brick sidewalks and old fashioned lantern street lamps that serve the many visitors and tourists that come here all year long. Tourism is fast becoming one of city's major industries.
