Imagine spending a year or more in Shanghai. Well, as an Internist you can. Our client company seeks an internist to work 1/3 outpatient and 2/3 inpatient within the walls of a 1000 bed Chinese hospital. There is no ICU on the floor. Patients that need ICU are transferred to the Chinese facility. The patients are 90% Americans and Europeans with some wealthy Asians. The clinic has x-ray, lab, pharmacy and ultra sound. You will be seeing 25 to 40 patients per day.

You will live nearby in one of many upscale apartment tracts and enjoy the sights and culture of this incredible modern city. The complexes are very nice and have amenities like pools, gyms, and one or two restaurants. Most are two to three miles from the hospital. Too view the city simply google Shanghai.

You will be paid monthly and will NET approximately $8750. The taxes in China are high and the gross wage is not as relevant as what the client knows you will NET. There will also be an incentive bonus yet to be determined. You are also paid a monthly housing stipend that nets approximately $1500 per month. The experienced physicians add $1000 and live like they are downtown Manhattan!

In terms of benefits expect 80/20 type medical coverage, airfare to China and back to US at the end of the contract and one trip each 12 months anywhere in the world equivalent the cost to fly to the US and back. Vacation is 4 weeks paid and some additional weeks at your request unpaid. There is also one paid week for CME’s.

The qualifications are very basic. You must be an Internal Medicine physician with current patient care experience and no malpractice issues or license issues. You must pass a physical including drug screen. You may be BE or BC and based on your CV experience, grandfathered.
