26867 - Great job opportunity at a level II+ NICU near Los Angeles, California is seeking 24-hour, in-house Neonatology locum tenens coverage for up to eight shifts per month. This unit has an average daily census of 24 in the NICU with an additional 28 in the well baby nursery. The hospital has approximately 5,000 deliveries per year, but the neonatologist will only attend high-risk deliveries. There are six conventional ventilators, two high frequency vents, and one jet. The doctor’s responsibilities will be to round on the babies in the NICU, attend deliveries, and follow-up the following morning by rounding on the well babies in the regular newborn nursery. The average shift is for 28 hours and the doctor will be compensated based on that time period. The hospital transports all critically ill patients, as well as those requiring surgery. The possibility exists for a full-time position for the right candidate.
