Job Description
Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist Needed in Vermont
There is one other psychiatrist on the unit who will work with the locum tenens psychiatrist. In addition, there is a nurse practitioner on this unit. The census runs between 16-18 ppd. Call is 1:5 and is shared with other doctors in the community. Call is not mandatory, and the locum tenens provider has the option of participating. The weekday hours are either 8-4 or 9-5. The patient population is general adult psychiatry, with 80 percent being geriatric, although the locum tenens would be doing pediatric consults. This is a voluntary locked unit, and the provider would do admissions, inpatient ingake, medication management, histories and physicals (although is the locum tenens provider does not want to do these, then a primary care physician would do them), substance abuse and detox. There is a 1st response team that covers the ER, and the doctor on call would only have to come in if it was a really bad case, which rarely happens.
LocumTenens.com will cover malpractice insurance, which is occurrence, as well as travel and housing costs.
