Job Description

A facility in northern New Jersey is looking for a psychiatrist to be there new Associate Medical Director. This is a full time permanent position. The psychiatrist is not required to have administrative or managed care experience. All candidates have to be Board Certified. This position is strictly administrative work.

Some of the essential job functions:


- Develop and implement a utilization management (UM) program and action plan.

- Provide psychiatric leadership to an assigned interdisciplinary UM team

- Provide day to day physician oversight to an assigned interdisciplinary UM team

- Evaluate the effectiveness of UM practices. Actively monitor for over and under-utilization.

- Along with the Corporate Clinical structure, implement clinical practice

- Develop, implement and interpret medical policy

- Participate in and maintain the purity of the appeals process, both internally and externally

- Involvement in the development of a strategy for contracting with and interfacing with the provider network and facilities.

- Holding regular meetings and training with community providers.
