Cardiac Surgeon needed in Maryland

LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY
Coverage Dates: Tentatively a week between 12/20 and 1/4, and also 3 14-22.
Call or Clinic?: Call only
Contract Length: Vacation coverage ( 1 week at a time)
Shift Details: 24hr call
Work Details:
• Amount of coverage needed per month: 1 week at a time and maybe a weekend for call coverage
• Patients per night: Cardiac Surgery: 200 per year, 4 surgeries per week.
• If call, how many calls per day/night? Don’t get called very often, maybe a few per year.
• Support Staff: 2 surgeons (one PRN and one FTE), Needing someone that can fill in for call coverage while the FTE is out. There will not be clinic while the FTE is out. OR APP (PA) and ICU APP that will take call. All elective cases will be paused. Only emergent cases will be applicable,
• 2 Cardiac ORs, but only one running at a time
• Patient population/age: 18+
• EMR: Cerner
• Hospital bed size: 480
• Trauma Level: II
• Are there procedures? ABR, AVR
• Skills required: Must be familiar w/ post-op cardiac surgery patient and ventilator management. Fresh post op, No Heart transplant patients. Does not need Vein harvesting exp. No OR time. MICU manages all medicine patient, SICU manages all surgical patients minus cardiac surgery, Neuro ICU patients are typically medical but there seems to be some changing in scope with that team to taking some from SICU.
Requirements:
• Board Certification: YES American Board of Thoracic Surgery
• State license required: MD or IMLC. (2 weeks)
• DEA: Yes
• CSR: tbd
• Certifications required: ACLS
• Minimum experience required: 1 year minimum
Credentialing Timeframe: 90-120 days, emergency priv in 3-4 weeks
