School Physician

Job description

We are seeking a licensed School Physician (MD/DO) to provide comprehensive medical services for students in a school district setting. The physician will support student health programs, oversee mandated screenings, and provide medical guidance in compliance with New York State Education Law and Commissioner’s Regulations (CR 136.1).
This is a contractor position ideal for physicians with experience in pediatrics, family medicine, or school health services.

Responsibilities
Serve as District Director of School Health Services.
Provide direct medical care and consultation to students as needed.
Conduct and supervise mandated student health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, immunizations).
Perform annual and special physical examinations (Pre-K through Grade 11 and new entrants).
Advise district officials on public health, communicable disease control, and immunization compliance.
Collaborate with school nurses and staff to maintain accurate health records and ensure compliance.
Provide athletic physicals and sideline coverage at football games (junior varsity and varsity).
Participate in health education programs and attend CSE/504 meetings when required.
Support development of policies on student health, infectious disease response, and emergency preparedness.

Qualifications
Licensed Physician (MD or DO) in New York State.
Board Certification in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine preferred.
Experience in school health or child/adolescent healthcare is strongly desired.

Key Requirement:
Active NYS medical license & registration.
Proof of malpractice insurance (if any).
Proof of general liability, workers’ comp, and disability coverage.
Fingerprint clearance and criminal background check (if any).
HIPAA acknowledgment form (if any).
