Job description

Start: September 1, 2026 (or as soon as credentialed)
Length: 8 weeks (2-month minimum, open to extension)
Coverage: Scheduled hours plus on-call
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00-17:00, 40 hours per week
Call: At-home call one weeknight per week (5P-8A, average 5 calls); one weekend per month of home call, excluding residents with change in status or post-ER/hospital return (Fri 5P-Mon 8A, average 25 calls)
Practice Setting: Intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with psychiatric/behavioral health and long-term care services
Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 2 weeks

Provide primary care to an adult residential population with intellectual and developmental disabilities and co-occurring behavioral health needs. Day-to-day work includes routine and acute medical management, coordination with psychiatry and interdisciplinary teams, oversight of chronic conditions, and follow-up on residents returning from hospital or emergency care.

At-home call covers after-hours clinical questions and status changes; call volume is modest on weeknights and heavier on weekend rotations.

Requirements
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Family Medicine
Active Texas medical license (required at time of submission - no licensing assistance available for this position)
Active DEA certification
Credentialing with hospitals utilized by the facility
Current AHA-approved CPR certification, maintained throughout the assignment
1-2 years of recent psychiatric/behavioral health experience; med-surg experience also considered and viewed as a benefit
Required drug screen, fingerprinting, and facility/state-required training
COVID vaccination/booster status and references required at time of submission
Local candidates accepted (under 50-mile radius booked at local rate)
