Full Time Locums Pathologist
Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified Pathologist for a full-time locums assignment in Maryland. This is a hospital-based practice with strong physician support and reasonable call expectations.
Clinical Responsibilities
General surgical pathology sign-out
Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) for specimen adequacy and tissue allocation
Non-GYN cytology
Clinical pathology
Participation in cancer conferences, tumor boards, and hospital/lab committees
System-wide on-call coverage (1 week at a time, every 7 weeks)
Opportunity to practice digital pathology across all locations
Case Volume & Mix
20–30 cases per day
Case mix includes:
Large cases: mastectomy, colectomy, prostatectomy
Medium cases: breast biopsies, prostate biopsies, GI biopsies
Small cases: gallbladder, appendix, hernia sacs, lipomas
Call Details
Typically very reasonable
Occasional late frozen sections after 5:00 PM
Blood bank calls are generally straightforward (unit approvals or MTP notifications)
Requirements
Board Certified in Pathology (required)
Active State License or IMLC eligibility (required)
DEA & CSR (required)
BLS & ACLS (required)
- Ongoing for 6 months
- Call coverage 1 week every 7 weeks
- The mix includes some large cases (mastectomy, colectomy, prostatectomy ...), medium cases (breast biopsies, prostate biopsies, G.I. biopsies....) and small cases (gallbladder, appendix, hernia sacs, lipoma....)
