Locum Tenens Anatomic Pathologist needed in Ohio – Cytology & Head and Neck
Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Anatomic Pathologist to provide on-site locum coverage at a busy pathology service in Ohio. This role features a strong cytology and head & neck case mix and requires hands-on involvement with FNA adequacy assessments and frozen sections.
Three regional hospitals send specimens to the location for processing, creating a steady and diverse caseload.
Case Mix & Volume
Heavy cytology volume with emphasis on head and neck pathology
Frozen sections and FNA procedures for adequacy required
Approximately 13,000–15,000 cases annually
Tonsillectomy specimens included; patient population primarily 18+, with some pediatric cases related to tonsils
Staffing & Support
Robust on-site support including:
Laboratory Technologists processing specimens
Anatomic Pathology Technologist
Pathologist Assistant
Typically two pathologists on service
At least one pathologist on site
Second pathologist may read remotely
Locum must be on site
Facility & Systems
EMR: EPIC
Hospital bed size not a determining factor for this role
Centralized processing site for multiple hospitals
Requirements
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology
Comfortable with high-volume cytology and head & neck cases
Experience with frozen sections and FNA adequacy assessments
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a supportive team
On-site availability required
