Locum Pathologist (Physician) – Short-Term Coverage

Description

We are seeking a Locum Pathologist for a short-term, urgent coverage assignment in Orangeburg. This assignment focuses on anatomic and clinical pathology, including grossing and sign-out of routine pathology specimens.

This is a time-sensitive opportunity for providers available to cover specific dates in May, with potential for additional coverage in the future.

About the Facility

A community-based facility providing comprehensive care in South Carolina.

• No trauma designation
• Approximately 3,000 surgical pathology cases annually
• Focus on routine pathology and cancer resections
• Collaborative and efficient work environment


Compensation:

• Pay Rate: $250/hour

Travel Expenses Reimbursed, Including:

• Mileage
• Rental car
• Hotel accommodations
• Flights

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform gross examination and sign-out of pathology specimens
• Interpret surgical biopsies and routine pathology cases
• Review blood smears and assist with limited clinical pathology duties
• Handle cancer resections and routine surgical specimens
• Participate in scheduled weekend call coverage

Note:

No autopsies
No cytology
No bone marrow biopsies


Qualifications:

• MD or DO (Pathology)
• Board Eligible (within 5 years) or Board Certified
• Fellowship training required
• Active South Carolina license or FCVS
• Must be able to cover all required May dates

Working Hours:
• Weekdays: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• Weekend Call: 24-hour call coverage

Coverage Dates:
• Onsite: May 11–15, May 18–22
• Call: May 9–10, May 16–17, May 23–24


Skills:

• Strong competency in gross pathology (required)
• Experience in anatomic and clinical pathology
• Ability to manage routine and cancer pathology cases efficiently
• High attention to detail and diagnostic accuracy
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
