Facility & Support Structure
Outpatient surgery center setting
Typically staffed with two anesthesia providers per day
Some Wednesdays and Thursdays staffed with three providers
EMR system: HST
Case Mix & Clinical Expectations
Heavy orthopedic volume; proficiency with regional blocks required
Eye cases with required block capability, though 98% are topical with light sedation
Mixed endoscopy cases using MAC
Pediatric ENT cases (PALS required)
Average case length: 75 minutes; eye cases average 20 minutes
Total joint ortho cases being added this month
Ortho/total shoulder surgeon begins in February on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays
Pediatric ENT Details
Highly structured and conservative pediatric ENT process
Surgeon is selective and does not rush cases
Thorough PAT screening for all pediatric patients
No cases with sleep apnea
No tonsil cases under age 3
Typically 1–2 pediatric ENT cases on Tuesdays
No additional CRNA in PACU, but many pediatric patients are fully awake before leaving the OR
Workflow & Scheduling
First OR starts at 7:00 a.m.; second room starts at 7:30 a.m.
Very low frequency of late days
Only 49 cases in the past year wheeled out after 4:00 p.m.
