Job description

We are seeking a CRNA for a full-time locum tenens assignment at a Level 1 trauma center in Virginia, with an anticipated start in August 2026. This is a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension, and the facility is specifically looking for providers interested in longer-term commitments of 6 to 12 months or more.

The schedule consists of 8- and 10-hour day shifts, typically starting at 7:00 AM, with a guaranteed 40-hour work week. Providers must be available to work full-time, including Fridays, as the facility requires consistent, ongoing coverage and will not consider intermittent schedules such as two weeks on and two weeks off. There are no 24-hour shifts, and overtime is available after scheduled hours.

This is a high-acuity, Level 1 trauma center with a complex patient population. The case mix includes neuro, orthopedic, trauma, general surgery, GYN, endoscopy, and healthy pediatric cases, with no cardiac or OB responsibilities. The anesthesia model is loosely medically directed, and locum CRNAs are treated the same as permanent staff, with full access and clinical autonomy within the care team.

The facility utilizes Epic for charting and fosters a team-oriented environment that prioritizes culture, stability, and continuity of care. Many locum providers remain on assignment long-term, with some staying for several years. The hospital is also expanding, with a brand-new wing that will require additional staffing support.

Candidates must be board certified and hold an active Virginia license, though the facility is open to candidates willing to obtain licensure. Travel is fully covered, including airfare, lodging, and rental car, or a travel stipend of up to $3,500 per month may be provided. The credentialing process typically takes around 100 days but can be expedited to approximately 75 days with prompt documentation.
