## Anesthesiologist – Hospital-Based Practice (Locum/Contract)

### Position Overview

A hospital-based practice is seeking a **Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Anesthesiologist** for a full-time locum assignment beginning **May 11, 2026**. This role supports a high-acuity surgical environment and requires providers to work across **both inpatient and outpatient surgical settings**.

The position is well suited for anesthesiologists who are comfortable practicing **independently in the operating room** and enjoy a variety of cases in a tertiary care setting.

### Schedule & Coverage

* **Start Date:** May 11, 2026
* **Coverage Type:** Scheduled shifts – **No Call**
* **Shift Type:** Day shifts
* **Schedule:** Providers may work **4 or 5 days per week**
* **Shift Length:** Typically **8 hours**, occasionally up to **10 hours** depending on case volume
* **Weekly Hours:** Minimum **40 hours per week**, with the potential for additional hours

*There are no fixed shift requirements.*

### Practice Setting

* **Hospital operating room coverage**
* Providers will **float between inpatient and ambulatory surgery environments**
* High-acuity inpatient centers and outpatient surgical settings
* **No cardiac, liver, or neuro cases**
* Predominantly **independent practice in the OR**, with occasional CRNA supervision
* **EMR:** Epic

⚠️ **Outpatient-only work is not available. Providers must be comfortable covering both inpatient and outpatient cases.**

### Case Mix & Patient Population

* **Adults and adolescents (13+)**
* Primarily **general surgical cases**
* Occasional **regional anesthesia cases**
* High-acuity experience (ASA III+) preferred

### Candidate Requirements

* **Board Certified in Anesthesiology required**

* Board-eligible candidates may be considered if fellowship trained
* **Active California medical license required**
* **DEA (California Schedule II/II-N) required**
* **BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)**
* **Minimum 2 years of anesthesiology experience**
* Recent experience in **tertiary care centers**
* **Recent solo practice experience required**

Preferred qualifications:

* Regional anesthesia experience
* Experience working alongside or supervising CRNAs

🚫 Candidates whose recent practice is primarily focused on **chronic pain clinics or pain procedures** will not be considered.

### Additional Assignment Details

* **Contract Length:** 26+ weeks
* **Coverage Need:** Full-time preferred

* Providers must be able to cover **at least 2 weeks per month**
* **Support Staff:** CRNAs available
* **Credentialing Timeline:** Approximately **60–90 days**
* **Interview Process:** Typically **1–2 interviews**
