Anesthesiologist Positions in San Francisco, CA
Start Date: As soon as credentialed (60-90 days)
Contract Length: 26 weeks (ongoing)

Schedule

Providers may work 4 or 5 days per week
Shifts typically 8 hours, occasionally up to 10 hours depending on case load
Minimum 40 hours/week expected
No fixed 8‑ or 10‑hour shift guarantees
Credentialing timeframe: 60–90 days
1–2 interviews expected


Practice Details

Hospital‑based float pool
Providers float between high‑acuity inpatient centers and ambulatory surgery centers
Must be able to cover both inpatient and outpatient procedures
Sites include multiple sister facilities within the system
No cardiac, liver, or neuro cases
Patient population: Adults and adolescents 13+
EMR: Epic
Support staff: CRNAs
Providers must be comfortable working solo; occasional CRNA oversight required


Clinical Scope
Case responsibilities include:

General OR anesthesia
Inpatient and outpatient surgical anesthesia
Airway management and anesthetic planning
Regional anesthesia exposure preferred (evaluated case‑by‑case)
Pre‑op, intra‑op, and post‑op anesthesia care
Collaboration with CRNAs when assigned

Experience:

Recent experience (past 2–3 years) with mix of inpatient and outpatient cases
Experience in high‑acuity settings (ASA 3+) preferred
Must have recent solo anesthesia experience
Experience in tertiary care centers required
Large volumes of chronic pain procedures are not relevant for this role

Requirements

Physician – Anesthesiology
Board Certified required (truly BE considered, especially with fellowship)
Active California medical license required
California DEA with Schedule 2/2N required
BLS and ACLS (AHA only) required
Minimum 2 years anesthesiology experience
Recent tertiary‑care experience required
Ability to work solo in the OR

Locals accepted.

Full hospital credentialing
Estimated timeframe: 60–90 days
Provider must return required information within 72 hours of offer
No emergency privileges
Parking not provided by facility; public transit available
