Facility:
This is a large, well-established Level I Trauma Center serving the Colorado Springs region, equipped with 22 operating rooms and a robust anesthesiology team comprising 55 anesthesiologists and 30 CRNAs. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic health records system and maintains state-of-the-art difficult airway equipment, providing a highly supportive clinical environment for locum providers.

Job Details:

  • Seeking 2-3 Locum Anesthesiologists for coverage from Late October 2026 through July 2027
  • Candidates must be kicked off by July 10th to meet a first shift start date of October 22nd
  • Weekday schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Weekend Day shift schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday - 0700-1700 (10-hour shifts); must work 4 consecutive days with option to add 1 additional day shift on Tuesday or Thursday
  • Weekend Night shift: 14 hours in-house, no call, no callback; scheduled 1700-0700 with a maximum of 4 night shifts
  • Night shift requirement: Friday 1700-0700 Sat, Sat 1700-0700 Sun, Sun 1700-0700 Mon, Mon 1700-0700 Tues
  • Need 2 Day shift providers and 2-3 Night shift providers
  • No first-time locums will be accepted
  • Practice breakdown: Adult 80%, Trauma 20%; patient population is mostly adult
  • Approximately 60 surgical cases per day: 50% general, 10% neuro, 20% complex vascular, 20% complex ortho
  • Other anesthesiologists will be present during locum coverage
  • Required to supervise CRNAs/AAs approximately 40% of the time, up to 3 at a time
  • Locum tenens physician is NOT responsible for preparing anesthesia charts
  • Must be able to cover 2 consecutive weeks per month including weekends - NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Prefer candidates who can cover 2 weekends per month
  • Credentialing timeframe: approximately 3 months
  • Required procedures and skills include: General Anesthesia (Adult & Trauma), Acute Pain Management, Spinal Anesthesia, Epidural Anesthesia, Central Line placement, Arterial Line placement, Regional Anesthesia, Obstetrical Cases, Neurosurgical Cases, Complex Vascular Cases (excluding open heart), Complex Orthopedic Cases, Local Infiltration, Ultrasound-guided block placement, Ventilation Management, Evaluation and management of acute volume/BP issues, Minor Nerve Blocks, IV Regional Anesthesia, and CRNA supervision
  • Must be comfortable performing pediatric cases
  • Board Certification in Anesthesiology required (Board Eligible not accepted)
  • Active Colorado License or Active IMLC Letter of Qualification highly preferred; willing to review candidates needing to obtain licensure
  • Minimum 2 years of Trauma Level I experience outside of residency required
  • BLS, ACLS (AHA), and PALS (AHA) certifications required
  • Clean malpractice history and background highly preferred
  • Self-Query NPDB Report pulled within 30 days must be uploaded at time of presentation
  • Local candidates highly preferred

Compensation:
