Description:
We are seeking a Board-Certified General Anesthesiologist for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in Iowa. This assignment is ideal for providers comfortable managing independent anesthesia cases across a broad range of surgical specialties in a hospital-based setting. Coverage is needed ASAP and ongoing due to staffing shortages, with weekend-focused scheduling and optional Friday daytime coverage.

About the facility:
This hospital-based practice performs approximately 3,600 inpatient and outpatient surgeries annually and utilizes EPIC EMR. Providers work alongside CRNAs, anesthesia providers, and anesthesia technicians in a collaborative perioperative environment. The facility handles a diverse surgical case mix including orthopedic, labor & delivery, spine, GI, gynecology, urology, cath lab, interventional radiology, bariatric, and limited vascular procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
‣ Provide anesthesia services for independent cases
‣ Manage perioperative patient care in a hospital setting
‣ Administer anesthesia for:
Orthopedic procedures
Labor & Delivery
Spine surgeries
GI procedures
Gynecology
Urology
Cath Lab cases
Interventional Radiology
Bariatric bypass surgeries
Minimal vascular procedures
‣ Participate in weekend and call coverage
‣ Collaborate with anesthesia support staff and surgical teams
‣ Document all patient encounters using EPIC EMR

Qualifications:
‣ Board Certified in Anesthesiology required
‣ Residency trained required
‣ BLS certification required
‣ DEA required
‣ Iowa license preferred
‣ Will consider providers with IMLC or willingness to obtain Iowa license
‣ Clean malpractice history highly preferred
‣ Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of application required
‣ Availability at time of application required

Working Hours:
‣ Coverage needed ASAP and ongoing
‣ Weekend-focused schedule:
‣ Friday: 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM
‣ Saturday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
‣ Sunday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
‣ Optional Friday day shift coverage available if provider can start earlier
‣ Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 60 days
