ANESTHESIOLOGY PHYSICIAN - LOCUM TENENS
DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Anesthesiology Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in Potsdam, New York. This is an acute care hospital assignment in a rural, critical-access setting within the St. Lawrence Region.
The physician should be comfortable practicing in a rural, critical-access environment and managing a broad range of inpatient and procedural anesthesia responsibilities.
COMPENSATION
Pay Rate: $400-$420/Hr. | Details can be discussed further after applying to the job posting.
Travel expenses reimbursed, including:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The selected physician will be responsible for:
- Providing general anesthesia services
- Providing inpatient anesthesia care
- Providing OB anesthesia services
- Performing epidurals
- Managing scheduled surgical cases
- Providing weekday and weekend call coverage
- Participating in holiday call coverage as scheduled
- Supervising CRNAs when applicable
- Managing patients in a rural, critical-access setting
- Providing emergency services as required
- Performing other anesthesia-related duties as assigned
- Maintaining appropriate patient care standards across the hospital's anesthesia services
SPECIFIC SCHEDULE & CALL COVERAGE
- Regular schedule: 7:00 AM-3:00 PM, Monday-Friday
- Weekday call: 3:00 PM-7:00 AM
- Weekend call: Friday at 7:00 AM through Monday at 7:00 AM
CURRENT REQUESTED COVERAGE
- 10/19/2026-10/23/2026: No weekday call - MD coverage
- 11/5/2026-11/13/2026: Weekend call 11/6-11/8 and weekday call on 11/10 and 11/12 - MD coverage
- 12/21/2026-12/30/2026: Holiday call 12/24/2026-12/27/2026 - MD coverage required. No full-time provider is available to take this call, making this coverage very urgent.
- Call: Weekday and weekend call required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Physician specializing in Anesthesiology
- Board Certified or Board Eligible
- New York medical license in hand
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- PALS certification required
- AHA or RQI certifications required
- Epic experience required
- Must be comfortable working in a rural, critical-access setting
- Must have emergency privileges
- Must be able to provide inpatient, OB, epidural, and general anesthesia services
- Must be comfortable with the required weekday, weekend, and holiday call schedule
- Must be able to supervise CRNAs when applicable
- Residents and Fellows cannot be accepted
WORKING HOURS
- Regular shift: 7:00 AM-3:00 PM
- Regular schedule: Monday-Friday
- Weekday call: 3:00 PM-7:00 AM
- Weekend call: Friday 7:00 AM-Monday 7:00 AM
- Coverage model: Scheduled shifts plus on-call coverage
- Block scheduling: Not available
- Holiday call: Required when assigned
- Start: October 19, 2026

Holiday call coverage may apply during the following observed holidays:
- New Year's Day: 7:00 PM the day before through 7:00 AM the day after
- Labor Day: 7:00 PM the day before through 7:00 AM the day after
- Independence Day: 7:00 PM the day before through 7:00 AM the day after
- Memorial Day: 7:00 PM the day before through 7:00 AM the day after
- Thanksgiving: 7:00 PM the day before through 7:00 AM the day after
- Christmas: 7:00 PM the day before through 7:00 AM the day after
