Join us as an Anesthesiologist at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center located in Albany, NY. This is a contract assignment with the Department of Veterans Affairs. W-2 and 1099 employment options available:
W-2: Lower overall pay rate with full access to Monterey Medical employee benefits.
1099: Higher overall pay rate in lieu of employee benefits.

Duties include:
• Provide clinical anesthesiology services.
• Inquire about cases assigned for the following day.
• Evaluate patients the morning of procedures and entering in CPRS the Immediate Anesthesia Note.
• Provide anesthesia services for all surgical specialties: dental, ENT, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, hand surgery, podiatry, thoracic, cardiac, vascular, plastic, urologic, and general cases.
• Provide clinical care for patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal and radiological suites.
• Coverage as needed for patients in the surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute pain management services, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management.
• Provide bedside consultations for patients
Period of Performance: 12-month base period 11/1/2026-10/31/2027 w/ four 12-month renewal options available for a possible total of up to 5 years.
Schedule: Full-time, 7A-5:30P Mon-Fri. On-call coverage weeknights 5:30P-7A Mon-Fri, weekends 7A Sat-7A Mon. Holiday on-call coverage 7A-7A (24-hr period).

Qualifications:
• Education. Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree required.
• Licensure and certification. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. BC/BE by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). BLS, ACLS, and NPI required.
• CME/CEU. Must continue to maintain and remain current on any required CME.
• Experience. Must possess ability to demonstrate skills necessary to fulfill position requirements.
• English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
• Subject to background/security investigation.
• All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical examination.
• Complete an online onboarding process.
• May be required to complete a probationary period.
• Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
