Anesthesiologist Opportunities in Wilmington, North Carolina
Start Date: As soon as credentialed (up to 120 days)
Contract Length: 13 weeks; potential ongoing need

Schedule

Monday–Friday
8‑hour (7:00 AM–3:00 PM) or 10‑hour (7:00 AM–5:00 PM) shifts
No call
Credentialing timeframe: ~120 days
Emergency privileges available
Full‑time coverage required


Practice Details

Hospital‑based anesthesia service
Supervision‑only model
Providers do not perform their own cases
Case mix includes:

General surgery
Cardiac
Orthopedic
OB
Pediatrics


50 anesthesia rooms
EMR: Epic
Support staff: CRNAs
High‑volume OR environment


Clinical Scope
Case responsibilities include:

Supervision of CRNAs only
Coordination of anesthesia plans
Oversight of a wide range of OR case types
Pre‑op, intra‑op, and post‑op anesthesia management

Experience:

Residency in Anesthesiology required
Must be comfortable supervising a full CRNA team
Strong general anesthesia background
Experience across mixed case types (general, ortho, OB, peds, cardiac)

Caseload details available upon request.

Requirements

Physician – Anesthesiology
Board Certified required
Active North Carolina medical license required (no licensing candidates)
DEA required
ACLS, BLS, PALS required
Must meet hospital training requirements (MD/DO, approved anesthesia residency)

Locals accepted if living >60 miles from site.

Medical Requirements

COVID‑19 vaccine status per facility standards
Flu vaccination
TB status
MMR (labs or vaccines)
Hepatitis B (labs or vaccines)
Tdap
Pre‑employment physical (within 3 months)
Ishihara color test
8‑panel drug screen


Credentialing

Full hospital credentialing
Estimated timeframe: ~120 days
Emergency privileging available
Provider must supply all requested documentation promptly
Multiple review steps; allow 5–7 business days for updates
