Assignment Overview

Facility: Sentara Leigh Hospital (274-bed acute care hospital)

Location: Norfolk, Virginia

Coverage Dates: January 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026

Hospital-based anesthesia coverage

Schedule

8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts available

Shifts scheduled based on departmental needs

Call required: Weeknights and/or weekends

Call rotation: 1:10

Case Mix & Skills Required

General anesthesia (adult required, pediatrics preferred)

Cardiac Cath Lab coverage

Spinal, epidural, and regional anesthesia

Obstetrical anesthesia

Complex vascular cases (excluding open heart)

Complex orthopedic cases

Spine cases (no cranial neuro)

Ventilation management

Central and arterial line placement

Not Required

Open heart anesthesia

Thoracic cases

Pain management procedures

PA catheter placement

Practice Setting

Accredited Primary Stroke Center

Magnet-designated hospital for nursing excellence

Specialties include orthopedic & spine care, heart & vascular, maternity, and general surgery

Onsite orthopedic hospital and preoperative services

Requirements

MD/DO – Anesthesiology

Comfortable with a broad general + regional case mix

Willing and able to take weeknight/weekend call
