Anesthesiologist Opportunity – Multi-Site Hospital System (Fredericksburg, Virginia)
-Practice Model

-Medical Direction model

-Anesthesiologist to CRNA ratio: 1:3

-CRNAs always practice under an Anesthesiologist

CRNA scope of practice:

-General anesthesia only

-Limited regional authority: Spinals and epidurals only

-No peripheral nerve blocks performed by CRNAs

-MDs may perform blocks (supraclavicular, popliteal, etc.)

Not required, but preferred at select sites

-Deal breaker: Anesthesiologists must be willing to work solo cases when requested

Schedule & Commitment

-Full-time required: 50 hours per week

-Monday–Friday schedule

-Weekend availability is a plus

-Floating required between all service locations

-Providers credentialed at all three facilities, regardless of primary worksite

Case Mix

-Open hearts

-Organ harvests (no transplants)

-Orthopedics

-Thoracic

-OB

-Endoscopy

-Trauma

-Healthy pediatrics

-EMR: EPIC

Facility Overview
Facility 1 (Level II Trauma Center – Main Hospital)

-Level II Trauma Center

-16 Operating Rooms

-2 OB Rooms

-8 Endoscopy Suites

-Cath Holding, Interventional Radiology, Emergency Department

-24/7 coverage model

Staffing:

-1 in-house MDA

-1 Cardiac MDA on call daily

-2 CRNAs in-house

-1 CRNA back-up call (7 days/week)

-1 additional CRNA back-up for Endo (weekends only)

-1 Cardiac CRNA on call (7 days/week)

-Night shifts and weekend call covered in 12-hour blocks (7a–7p / 7p–7a)

Facility 2 (Ambulatory Surgery Center)

-Outpatient surgery center adjacent to Facility 1

-Monday–Friday only | No weekends

-6 Operating Rooms

Case mix:

-Healthy pediatrics (dental, ENT)

-Orthopedics

-Bread-and-butter outpatient cases

-Fast-paced environment with quick turnovers

-MDs must be able to perform blocks at this site

Staffing model:

-2 MDs

-6 CRNAs

Facility 3 (Community Hospital)

-Smaller, non-trauma hospital

-6 Operating Rooms

-1 OB

-1 Endoscopy suite

-Heavy OB case volume

-All critical cases transferred to Facility 1

Staffing:

-2 MDs

-6 CRNAs

24-hour in-house coverage:

-1 MDA

-2 CRNAs

-No back-up call

Credentialing

-90–120-day credentialing timeframe

-Providers will be credentialed for all three facilities
