Anesthesiologist – Multi‑Site Acute Care & Ambulatory Settings (Care Team Model)
Target Start Date: April 20, 2026
Contract Length: 6‑month locum tenens assignment (potential extension)
Openings: 1 anesthesiologist
Schedule
Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours only (no call required)**
Shift Structure:
Day shifts, typically 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
Monday–Friday, 50 hours per week (40 hours guaranteed; must be able to flex up to 50)
Full‑time preferred; 2–3 weeks per month considered
Weekend availability is a plus
Candidates open to weekends, nights, or night call may be considered for alternative scheduling flexibility
EMR: Epic
Supervision Model: Medical Direction (1:3 CRNA ratio; CRNAs always practice under an anesthesiologist)
Practice Details
Setting: Multi‑site float pool covering an acute care hospital, a community hospital, and an ambulatory surgery center
Patient Population: Adults and healthy pediatrics
Trauma Level: Level II at primary site

8 endoscopy rooms
Cath lab, IR, ED
24‑hour anesthesia coverage
Case mix includes general surgery, OB, ortho, thoracic, trauma, endoscopy, and cardiac support
Open hearts and organ harvests performed (no transplants)
Ambulatory Surgery Center
6 ORs
Healthy pediatrics (ENT, dental), ortho, general bread‑and‑butter cases
Fast‑turnover environment
MDs must be able to perform blocks at this site
Community Hospital
6 ORs
1 OB suite
1 endoscopy room
Heavy OB volume
Critical cases transferred to the main hospital

Procedural Requirements
Ability to perform peripheral nerve blocks preferred (not required)
Ability to perform solo cases when needed (required)
CRNAs perform only spinals and epidurals; no peripheral blocks
Comfortable supervising CRNAs in a medical‑direction model

24‑hour in‑house anesthesia coverage at primary site
Additional Notes
Providers are credentialed for all three sites
Credentialing timeframe: 90–120 days
AHA certifications required
Requirements
Board‑certified or board‑eligible anesthesiologist
Active Virginia license required at time of submission
DEA required
Ability to perform solo cases
Experience supervising CRNAs in a care‑team model
Broad hospital‑based anesthesia experience
Comfortable floating between multiple sites
COVID‑19 vaccination not required
