BOARD CERTIFIED PATHOLOGY PHYSICIAN

SITE OF SERVICE:
• VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, University Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15240-1003

POSITION SUMMARY:
• Pittsburgh VAMC is an acute care and inpatient behavioral health facility with 146 medical,
neurological, and surgical beds in the main facility and 78 secure, private psychiatric beds in the
consolidation building. This campus also receives the most outpatient visits of all VAPHS
facilities.
• The University Drive campus of VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System is in the Oakland section of
Pittsburgh, adjacent to the University of Pittsburgh's Petersen Events Center. It is an acute care
and inpatient behavioral health facility with 146 beds available for medical, neurological, and
surgical care in the main facility and 78 secure, private psychiatric beds in the consolidation
building. This campus also receives the most outpatient visits of all VAPHS facilities.
• Specialized services at the University Drive campus include speech and audiology, dermatology,
optometry/ophthalmology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, sleep studies, urology,
and more. The campus is also home to national, independent liver and renal transplant centers,
a regional cardiac surgery center, and an oncology referral center. In addition, our Women
Veterans Health and Renal Dialysis programs have earned recognition as National Centers of
Clinical Excellence.
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience: At least 12 of the prior 18 months or previous or current participation in a hospitalaffiliated residency or clinical fellowship
• License: a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth
• Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible Pathologist by the American Board of
Pathology
• Certificate:
o BLS, ACLS, or equivalent
o NPI
o DEA Certificate
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully undergo a government background investigation.
• Must complete all VA educational requirements and mandatory course, meet health screening
requirements

• Government Contract Position with Veterans Healthcare System
• Perfom surgical pathology, microscopic & final diagnosis
• Provide intraoperative consultation to surgical services
