Schedule: 12-Hour Night Shifts (19:00 – 07:00) | 7-on / 7-off Rotation
Call/Block Schedule: Scheduled Night Shifts Only (No Call) | No Block Schedules

Position Summary
An acute care hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center in the Roanoke, VA area is seeking a Board-Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) for a 6-month locum tenens nocturnist assignment. The role requires managing high-acuity pulmonary and critical care patients overnight within a 7-on / 7-off schedule.
Core Responsibilities & Clinical Scope
Nighttime Critical Care Management: Provide nocturnal coverage for pulmonary critical care patients in a Level 1 Trauma setting.
Invasive Procedures: Perform central venous catheter placement, arterial lines, thoracentesis, chest tube and pigtail catheter insertion, bedside ultrasounds, flexible bronchoscopies, management of indwelling pleural catheters, and intubations.
Candidate Submission & Qualification Requirements
Licensure & Board Certification:
Board Certification: Active Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) [REQUIRED].
State Licensure: Active Virginia Medical License [HIGHLY PREFERRED] (will consider candidates willing to obtain a license).
DEA Certification: Active Virginia DEA Certificate [REQUIRED].
Clinical Experience:
Minimum 2 years of recent Nurse Practitioner experience in Pulmonary / Critical Care [REQUIRED].
Proficient in performing full ICU/pulmonary invasive procedures independently [REQUIRED].
