West Virginia Critical Care Locums - Flexible ICU Float Pool

Job description

I am working with a West Virginia hospital building a Critical Care float pool for locum coverage beginning in January 2027.

The client is looking for multiple physicians who can help cover schedule gaps, vacations and other ICU needs over an initial six-month period. Both weekday and weekend availability may be useful, allowing us to compare the physician’s actual availability against the hospital’s coverage needs rather than forcing everyone into the same monthly block.

This is a 16-bed ICU with all specialty support onsite. The clinical scope is described as bread-and-butter Critical Care. Current coverage includes 12-hour ICU shifts with a call component.

Board Certification, DEA, BLS, ACLS and PALS are required, along with at least two years of Critical Care experience. Physicians do not need to already hold a West Virginia license - IMLC and West Virginia temporary licensing pathways are accepted.

If the assignment sounds potentially worthwhile, I would rather learn what schedule, ICU environment and compensation make sense for you and determine whether I can make the opportunity work.

  • Flexible float-pool scheduling built around physician availability
  • 16-bed ICU with all specialty support onsite
  • IMLC and West Virginia temporary licensing accepted
