Locum Emergency Medicine Physician | Freestanding ED (North Channel) | Houston, TX | ABEM, PRN, No Call

Job description

Start: January 2027
Length: Ongoing
Coverage: Freestanding emergency department, with coverage at the affiliated main hospital and Fairmont FSED
Schedule: PRN; days, nights, and weekends
Call: None
Volume: FSED about 70 patients per day (5% admit rate); main ED about 115 patients per day (25% admit rate)
Practice Setting: Freestanding Emergency Department
Main Hospital: About 30 ED treatment spaces, Level III Trauma, moderate to high acuity with complex pathology
Staffing: FSED has 2 physicians and 2 APPs per day; main ED has 4 physicians and 2 APPs per day
Support: Nurses, techs, paramedics, security, in-house intensivists and hospitalists, OB services
Procedures: Intubation, central lines, chest tubes, conscious sedation, fracture reduction, laceration repair
EMR: Meditech
Orientation: Two shadow shifts (one if prior experience with the system and Meditech)

Requirements:
- ABEM certification required
- Case logs required for credentialing
- Active Texas license and DEA
- Willing to work at the affiliated FSEDs
