Emergency Medicine NP/PA – Locum Tenens – Fort Walton Beach, FL Area
Job description
A high-volume hospital-based emergency department in the Fort Walton Beach, FL area is seeking a locum tenens Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) for ongoing coverage. This is a busy ED with active metrics tracking and a strong team-based culture.
Provider Requirements:
- APP with Emergency Room experience, ideally at a Level 2 or higher facility
- Minimum 1 year of ED experience (2+ years preferred)
- Comfortable with adult and pediatric patients
- Locum providers must be available to work all shift types
- Clean file required for credentialing
Schedule & Volume:
- 10-12 shifts per month (60-120 hours per month)
- Non-consecutive shifts are welcome
- Current shifts: 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.; 12:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.; and 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
- All shifts transitioning to 12-hour blocks as summer ramps up
- 42 hours/day of physician coverage on site
Department Volume:
- ~55,000 patients per year
- ~155 patients per day in the department (including ~30 pediatric patients per day)
- Admission rate: ~25%
- APP averages 1.7 patients per hour; facility average is 1.55 patients per hour per provider
