Emergency Medicine NP/PA Needed in Charlottesville, VA:
Start Date: July 2026
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Schedule:
• Average 40 hours/week (160 hours/month)
• Combination of 8s and 12s
• Will consider 3x12 schedule
• Blocked or clustered scheduling available
• Most urgent need is days, but open to days/nights
• Open to providers willing to work some weekends and holidays
Practice Details:
• Academic tertiary care Emergency Department Observation Unit at UVA Health
• Adult observation patients only
• Average daily census of 7–10 patients
• Epic EMR
• Strong interdisciplinary support with onsite Emergency Medicine attending physicians at all times
• Common patient types include chest pain, TIA/CVA evaluation, syncope, cellulitis, dehydration, abdominal pain, and specialty consult pathways
• APPs manage protocol-driven observation patients collaboratively with EM physicians
Requirements:
• Board Certified NP or PA required
• NP certifications accepted: Acute Care, Family, or Emergency NP
• Active VA license required
• DEA and CSR required prior to start
• BLS and ACLS required
• ATLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years APP experience preferred
• Emergency Medicine, Observation Unit, Internal Medicine, or related acute care experience preferred
• Strong independent clinical decision-making and team collaboration skills required
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced Emergency Medicine environment
Additional Details:
• Hospital setting
• Orientation completed on first shift
• Credentialing timeframe approximately 60 days
