NP/PA - Urgent Care Richmond, VA

Job description

We are seeking qualified and adaptable Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA) for locum or locum-to-perm Urgent Care coverage across the Richmond, VA area. This position offers a 100% outpatient clinical setting providing care to patients of all ages (birth to death). Clinics are open 7 days a week, and candidates should expect to work full 12-hour+ shifts to cover patient flow.

Key Responsibilities
Provide direct outpatient care to an average of 25 to 50 patients per day across broad clinical acuity.

Perform minor procedures, including:

Laceration Repair: Simple, intermediate, and complex suturing/stapling.

Procedures & Care: Incision and drainage (I&D), packing, foreign body removal, minor burn management, skin lesion care, and epistaxis management (anterior nasal packing or chemical cautery).

Orthopedics: Injury stabilization, splinting, casting, and joint reduction.

Perform diagnostic and point-of-care testing evaluations, including X-ray interpretation and EKG evaluation.

Interpret point-of-care lab tests (rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, RSV, urinalysis, blood glucose).

Administer emergency stabilization and airway support (nebulizer treatments, etc.) before transferring higher-acuity patients to an ED/ER.

Document all patient interactions accurately using Epic EMR.

Submission & Qualification Requirements
Education & Certification: Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

Licensure: Active Virginia (VA) State Medical License.

Certifications: Active BLS and DEA certifications.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in Urgent Care, Emergency Department (ED/ER), or Primary Care setting.

Background: Clean background with no malpractice claims or licensing issues.

Logistics: Candidates must be local or accept an all-inclusive rate (no separate travel/lodging reimbursements).

Credentialing & Onboarding
Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 60 to 90 days.
