Job description

Start: January 1, 2027 (December dates possible for clean files with temporary privileges)
Length: Ongoing
Coverage: Emergency department float coverage across two affiliated hospitals in the Eureka and Fortuna, CA area
Schedule: Shift options 8:00–16:00, 13:00–23:00, 15:00–24:00, 21:00–6:00, and 23:00–8:00
Call: No call
Volume: About 110 patients per 24 hours
Practice Setting: Acute care hospital emergency departments

• Emergency evaluation, treatment, and disposition of ED patients
• Night shift incentive available for confirmed providers
• Additional incentive available for providers who consistently pick up 5–7+ shifts per month
• Travel covered (flight, lodging, rental car, and airport parking)

Requirements
• ABEM/AOBEM Board Certified, or Board Eligible within 3–5 years of residency (ABIM/ABFM not accepted)
• Active California license and DEA required
• 2–3 professional references for medical director review
• Clean file required for temporary privileges
• COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
