JOB SUMMARY

A full-time Emergency Medicine Physician is needed to provide high-quality care in the Emergency Department and inpatient setting. The provider will manage emergency patients, oversee inpatient care, and collaborate with hospital staff to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT (ED)

Average 4 patients/day
Coverage in 3 ED treatment rooms
Provide care during scheduled shifts (24-hour shifts, occasional 12-hour shifts)
Weekend and on-call coverage as scheduled


INPATIENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Average 4 inpatients/day (observation, acute, swing bed)
Collaborate with nursing and ancillary staff to manage patient care.


SUPPORT & COLLABORATION

Nursing support: 2 RNs per provider
Ancillary staff: 1 CNA per provider
Advanced Practice Providers: 4 (no supervision required)


CLINICAL TOOLS & RESOURCES

EMR: EPIC (TogetherCare)
Medical Imaging, Laboratory, Pharmacy available
SCHEDULE & SHIFT DETAILS

Shifts per Pay Period: Minimum of 3 shifts
Shift Length: 24 hours (7a–7a), some 12-hour shifts
On-Call: In-house coverage; provider sleep room available

April 21 @ 7a – April 22 @ 7a
April 26 @ 7a – April 27 @ 7a
April 29 @ 7a – May 2 @ 7a
May 3 @ 7a – May 4 @ 7a
May 17 @ 7a – May 18 @ 7a
June 10 @ 7a – June 15 @ 7a


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Board Certified – ABEM or FP/IM with recent EM experience (required)
Active Iowa license (required)
Clean malpractice and background check (required) – Self-query NPDB must be provided
Ability to provide coverage on requested dates


TRAVEL & EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT

Flights: Up to $750 round trip (including taxes/fees; no upgrades)
Lodging: Up to 1.5x GSA rate (including taxes/fees)
Rental Car: Up to $55/day (including taxes/fees; upgrades require approval)
Mileage: IRS standard rate


FACILITY & PATIENT POPULATION

Critical Access Hospital with a 3-bed Emergency Department and 20-bed medical-surgical department
Average ED and inpatient volumes are low, allowing for high-quality, focused patient care
Outpatient services include laboratory, radiology, rehabilitation, infusion, and ambulatory surgery
