Shift Options: Day (06:30 – 14:30), Evening (13:30 – 22:30), Night (21:30 – 06:30)

Volume & Availability: 4–12 shifts per month required

Call / Weekend Requirements: None

Position Overview
A community hospital in Council Bluffs, IA is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Emergency Medicine Physician for ongoing locum tenens coverage during an operational transition. The position involves routine emergency department care, resuscitation/code management, and minimal trauma responsibilities in a 22,000 annual volume ED.

Department & Clinical Details
Annual ED Volume: ~22,000 visits per year (77% Discharge, 14% Admissions, 2.8% Observation, 2.5% Transfers, 4% Left Without Being Seen/LBTC).

Clinical Scope: Routine ER patient care, code responses, and stabilization. (Limited trauma responsibility).

Support Staff: 12–20 hours of daily Advanced Practice Provider (APP) coverage; streamlined regional transfer center process.

EMR & Documentation: EPIC with Dragon Dictation (No medical scribes available).

Qualifications & Clinical Requirements
Education & Credentials

Degree: M.D. or D.O. from an accredited institution [Required]

Residency: Completion of an ACGME/AOA-accredited Emergency Medicine Residency program [Required]

Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine [Required]

Licensure: Active Iowa Medical License OR active IMLC state compact license [Required]

Controlled Substance: Active Iowa DEA registration [Required]

Certifications: Active AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications [Required]

Experience Requirements

Active clinical practice as an Emergency Medicine Physician within the last 12 months OR completion of an EM residency within the past 6 months [Required]

Deal Breakers / Disqualifiers

Failed background checks (including DUIs) or history of license suspension.
