Facility & Clinical Overview
Practice Setting: Critical Access Hospital featuring a 3-bed Emergency Department and a 20-bed Medical-Surgical unit.
Dual Clinical Scope: Emergency Department coverage combined with inpatient rounding/attending duties for observation, acute, and swingbed patients.
Patient Volume: Low-volume, low-acuity rural setting averaging 4 ED visits per day and an average daily inpatient census of 4 patients.
Staffing & Support: 2 RNs providing house-wide clinical coverage, 1 CNA, 4 APPs (no supervision required), with full medical imaging, laboratory, pharmacy, infusion, and rehab support.
EMR System: Epic (TogetherCare).
Accommodations: In-house physician sleep room available for 24-hour shift coverage.
Candidate Submission & Qualification Requirements
Licensure & Board Certification:
Board Status: ABEM Board Certified, or Family Medicine / Internal Medicine Board Certified with strong, recent Emergency Medicine experience [REQUIRED].
State Licensure: Active, unencumbered Iowa Medical License [REQUIRED].
Background & Logistics:
Locality & Travel: Candidates MUST be local drive-in (must note drive-in status at time of name clear) [REQUIRED].
Shift Availability: Must specify monthly shift availability upon name clear (~3 shifts/month requested) [REQUIRED].
Background History: Clean background and clean malpractice history [REQUIRED].
NPDB Report: Active Self-Query NPDB Report pulled within the last 30 days [REQUIRED AT PRESENTATION].
- Schedule: 24-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM) or Occasional 12-Hour Shifts
