Job description

Med Ninjas is seeking 1–2 board-certified Emergency Medicine Physicians for ongoing locum coverage at a Level III trauma center in Mason City, Iowa.
Shifts are flexible and first come, first serve, with no call responsibility and no inpatient duties.

Schedule & Coverage
Open FTE model — providers select from posted open shifts
9- and 12-hour shift lengths
Day coverage: 1–2 physicians; night coverage: 1 physician
1–2 advanced practice providers on shift, with physician supervision expected
Busiest window is 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
No on-call requirement

Open shift volume: Averaging roughly 15 open shifts per month, assigned first come, first serve. Current openings run November 2026 through January 2027, with a concentration of 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM nights plus 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM days, 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM evenings, and 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM shifts.

Preference is given to physicians who can commit to a significant number of open shifts.
You Must Have

ABEM board certification — this is the only accepted certifying board for this assignment
ATLS certification — required for trauma privileges
Active Iowa license or IMLC pathway
Clean background and malpractice history
A straightforward work history that supports fast privileging; credentialing reviews the prior 10 years
Availability to cover a meaningful block of the posted open shifts
