Locum Emergency Medicine Physician | Freestanding ED | Independence, MO (Kansas City Area) | PRN, No Call

Job description

Start: January 4, 2027 (or as soon as credentialed)
Length: Ongoing PRN coverage
Coverage: Freestanding emergency department affiliated with a Level II trauma center
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:00 or 19:00–7:00; days, nights, and weekends
Call: No call
Volume: About 1.6 patients per hour; admission rate about 5% or lower
Practice Setting: Freestanding emergency department, 10 treatment rooms and 1 triage space
Patient Population: Mostly low acuity with occasional higher-acuity walk-ins

• Single-physician coverage with APP support
• Nurse or APP triage for lower-acuity patients
• Orientation: 1 orientation day plus 1–2 shadow shifts
• Travel covered: flight, lodging, and rental car

Requirements
• Emergency Medicine Board Certification required (new graduates considered if EM board certified; primary care physicians not accepted)
• Active Kansas or Missouri license, or IMLC; DEA required
• Case logs required
• Must be flexible for days, nights, and weekends
• Non-local candidates only (more than 50 miles from the facility)
• Credentialing: approximately 90 days
