Job Description:
Client is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician to join the emergency department at Abbeville, Louisiana.

This community-based opportunity offers a manageable patient volume of approximately 16,000 annual ED visits, 24-hour physician coverage, and 12 hours of daily mid-level coverage. The emergency department has 7 beds and is supported by several key hospital specialties.

The ideal candidate will have strong Emergency Medicine experience and be comfortable providing comprehensive care in a community hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
Provide timely, high-quality emergency care during assigned shifts.
Perform comprehensive medical assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Order and interpret diagnostic testing and imaging as clinically indicated.
Stabilize patients requiring higher levels of care and coordinate transfers when necessary.
Collaborate with advanced practice providers, nurses, specialists, and other hospital staff.
Consult with available specialty services to support patient care.
Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation using Cerner Community Works.
Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment, and follow-up care.
Follow established clinical protocols, quality standards, and patient-safety requirements.

Qualifications:
Board Requirements:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
ABEM
ABFM or ABIM with Emergency Medicine experience
Required Certifications

For physicians who are not board certified:
ATLS
ACLS
PALS

Additional qualifications:
Emergency Medicine experience strongly preferred.
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a community emergency department.
Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered emergency care.

Annual ED Volume: Approximately 16,000 visits
Patient Volume: Approximately 45 patients/day
Physician Coverage: 24 hours
Mid-Level Coverage: 12 hours
