This community hospital serves as a critical access point for emergency care in the region, with an annual ED volume of 13,800 visits and a total of 10 ED beds. The facility operates as a Level IV Trauma Center and serves as a primary referral hub to a larger regional hospital approximately 20 miles away, offering a collaborative and well-supported clinical environment.

Job Details:
- Seeking a board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician for locum tenens coverage beginning July 20 through September, with approximately 8 shifts anticipated in September (primarily nights)
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM | Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Annual ED volume of 13,800 visits with an average daily volume of 32-50 patients across 10 ED beds
- Level IV Trauma Designation; no Fast Track available
- 55% of hospital admissions originate from the ED, with 6.4% of ED patients admitted
- Fewer than 7 patient transfers per 24-hour period; primary referral center is approximately 20 miles away
- EMR system: Epic
- One APP works alongside the ED attending from 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM; locum physician will provide supervision of APP during overlapping hours
- Clinical responsibilities include responding to hospital codes as needed and interpreting EKGs (cardiology provides final review)
- Admission orders are handled by admitting physicians; OB patients are stabilized and transferred to the regional Labor & Delivery unit
- Available services include Radiology (CT, MRI, X-Ray), Laboratory, Blood Bank (AABB Certified), Operating Room, and Anesthesia
- Available consultants include Radiology, Critical Care/Intensivist, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Urology, and Psychiatry
- Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM) required
- Active full Michigan license required at time of name clear; IMLC or Compact Licenses are not accepted
- ACLS and ATLS certifications required
- Ability to supervise Advanced Practice Providers required
- Experience working in a community emergency department setting preferred
- Copy of NPDB self-query required at presentation (must be pulled within 30 days)
- Emergency credentialing available; provider needed for first shift on July 20
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
