Locum Emergency Medicine Physician | Hospital ED & Freestanding EDs | Corpus Christi, TX | 12-Hour Shifts, No Call

Job description

Start: January 4, 2027 (or as soon as credentialed)
Length: Ongoing PRN coverage (1-year need)
Coverage: Emergency medicine across a hospital ED and three freestanding EDs in the Corpus Christi area (Rockport, Portland, and Northwest)
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 6:00–18:00 or 18:00–6:00; days and nights available
Call: No call
Volume: Average daily census of 45–80 depending on site; admission rate about 10% at freestanding EDs and 20% at the hospital ED
Practice Setting: Acute care hospital ED (Level IV trauma) and 24/7 freestanding emergency departments
Patient Population: Mixed; elderly and seasonal residents, nursing home and rural patients, and younger patients depending on site
Procedures: Intubation, central lines, ultrasound, OB deliveries, dislocation reductions, chest tubes, laceration repair

• Single physician coverage at each site, with daily APP coverage (9–24 hours depending on site)
• High-acuity emergency cases, including trauma management, STEMI, and stroke care
• Multiple consults available daily; generally no follow-up required
• Orientation: 2-hour onboarding plus 2–3 shadow shifts
• Documentation in Meditech
• Travel covered: flight, lodging, and rental car

Requirements
• ABEM Board Certification required
• Minimum 2 years of emergency medicine experience (required for freestanding ED coverage)
• Active Texas license required
• Case logs required
• Must be open to PRN scheduling
• Non-local candidates only (more than 50 miles from the facility)
• Credentialing: approximately 90 days
