Locum Emergency Medicine Physician | Nights Only, Low-Acuity ED | Houston, TX | 6p–6a, No Call

Job description

Start: January 4, 2027 (or as soon as credentialed)
Length: 3–6 months
Coverage: Emergency department at a women's specialty hospital, nights only
Schedule: 18:00–6:00
Call: No call; no callback requirements
Volume: 15,000–16,000 annual visits; 30–40 patients per day; about 13% admission rate (4–5 admissions per day)
Practice Setting: Acute care hospital, 11-bed ED; not a trauma, stroke, or cardiac center
Patient Population: Young, generally healthy; primarily low- to mid-acuity (GI, gynecologic, and pediatric presentations)

• Emergency evaluation, treatment, and disposition of low- to mid-acuity patients
• No APP coverage; pediatrician on shift during peak hours
• Standard consult services, including pediatrics
• Orientation: 2 shadow shifts
• Travel covered: flight, lodging, and rental car

Requirements
• ABEM Board Certification required
• Active Texas license and DEA required
• Case logs per standard credentialing
• Temporary/emergency privileges may be considered
• Non-local candidates only (more than 50 miles from the facility)
• Credentialing: approximately 90 days
