PCOS could lead to an increased risk for psychiatric disorders
Researchers recently examined the correlation between women with and without polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to see if there is an increase in signs for obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. The study found women with PCOS show more signs of these psychiatric disorders than women who do not. The researchers encourage the screening of these disorders in women with PCOS as well as education about these risks when one has the disease.
