Nurse Practitioner – Cardiothoracic Surgery (Inpatient & Surgical Services)
Target Start Date: January 30, 2026
Contract Length: 13‑week locum tenens assignment (potential ongoing need)

Schedule
Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours plus required call

Shift Structure:

24‑hour call shifts

Weekend and holiday call required

Rounding responsibilities included

Mix of inpatient, ICU, step‑down, and surgical support

Patient Volume: Variable based on surgical caseload and inpatient census
EMR: Not specified (experience with major hospital EMRs expected)

Practice Details
Setting: Acute care hospital within a cardiothoracic surgery service line; may include support across multiple affiliated locations
Patient Population: Adult cardiothoracic and thoracic surgery patients
Support: Multidisciplinary surgical and critical care teams

Clinical Scope Includes:

First assist in cardiothoracic and thoracic surgery

Experience with robotic thoracic surgery required

Management of ICU and step‑down patients

Pre‑ and post‑operative rounding

Call coverage with independent decision‑making

Procedures and interventions appropriate to cardiothoracic APP scope

Additional Notes:

Local candidates strongly preferred

Clean background required

NPDB report required at time of submission

Not willing to license; active state license must be in hand

High‑acuity environment requiring prior cardiothoracic surgery experience

Requirements
Physician Assistant (PA‑C)
or
Nurse Practitioner (NP-C)

Significant experience in cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery, including robotic cases

Experience managing ICU and step‑down patients

Active state license (must be in hand; not willing to license)

Clean background; NPDB required

Certifications as required for surgical APP practice (BLS/ACLS per facility standards)

Location
Cleveland, Ohio area — inpatient cardiothoracic surgery service with responsibilities across multiple hospital locations
