Position Overview
We are seeking a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Paterson, NJ. Reporting to the CEO, the CMO will provide executive and clinical leadership, oversee medical services and patient care programs, and lead clinical staff while promoting collaboration, accountability, professional growth, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
✓ MD from an accredited institution and completion of an accredited residency program.
✓ Active, unrestricted New Jersey medical license or eligibility for licensure, with current CDS and DEA registration.
✓ Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or another relevant specialty.
✓ At least 3 years of clinical leadership experience as a medical director, associate CMO, site medical director, department chief, or similar.
✓ Experience supervising and evaluating clinical providers, including management of at least one serious performance matter.
✓ Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and ability to interpret and act on clinical performance data.
✓ Strong executive leadership, communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
✓ Ability to drive organizational change and promote accountability and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications:
✓ Experience in an FQHC, community health center, or similar safety-net healthcare setting.
✓ Knowledge of HRSA Health Center Program requirements, UDS reporting, FTCA, Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) standards, and the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
✓ Experience leading sustainable care model or workflow improvements.
✓ Spanish proficiency or another language spoken by the patient population.
Key Responsibilities
✓ Provide executive and clinical leadership for all medical services and patient care programs.
✓ Supervise, coach, and evaluate physicians, advanced practice providers, dental providers, and behavioral health clinicians.
✓ Lead provider recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development.
✓ Oversee clinical credentialing, privileging, peer review, and scope-of-practice determinations.
✓ Establish productivity standards and conduct monthly provider performance reviews.
✓ Lead clinical quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with HRSA, FTCA, and other regulatory requirements.
✓ Champion organizational change and clinical transformation initiatives.
✓ Maintain an active patient panel and provide direct patient care within the scope of board certification.
✓ Participate in executive leadership meetings and present clinical performance matters to the Board of Directors.
✓ Represent clinical staff interests in executive decision-making.
