Overview

Absolute Staffers is hiring for the General Physician to work at FCI Oakdale, LA

Roles and Responsibilities

- Provide medical services for acute and chronic conditions among general population inmates, plus those in the Reintegration Housing Unit and Special Housing Units
- Evaluate and treat inmates requiring emergency medical care and routine chronic care
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations
- Review and sign diagnostic and consultative reports
- Provide clinical guidance to mid-level providers, nurses, and EMTs
- Maintain detailed medical record documentation and correct deficiencies in a timely manner
- Deliver consultation, urgent, and emergency care as needed — with immediate response required for urgent/emergency cases
- Coordinate closely with the Clinical Director, Medical Officer, and Health Services Administrator
- Provide a monthly work schedule at least 7 days before the month begins
- Sign the consultant log at each visit (arrival/departure time)
- Comply with BOP Health Services Manual, institutional mandates, and AAAHC standards of care
- Not permitted to: supervise inmates or BOP staff, escort staff, participate in inmate accountability, requisition supplies, formulate policy, or attend institution meetings/staff recalls

Qualifications and Experience

- Current, valid medical license to practice medicine in any U.S. state
- Current CPR certification
- Professional/malpractice liability insurance meeting FAR 52.237-7 and local community prevailing standards
- Experience with medical equipment
- Must pass a drug screening and law enforcement background check
- Must undergo security clearance/background investigation (if not already completed)
- Must be free of communicable diseases; current TB test (TST/PPD) documentation; Hepatitis B vaccination or exposure follow-up documentation
